The Partnership for African Social and Governance Research (PASGR) is a pan-African not-for-profit organisation based in Nairobi that aims to increase the capacity of African academic institutions and researchers to contribute stronger evidence based research on public policy that can have a positive impact on pro-poor development policies in Africa. It was established in response to the declining capacity in political and social science research output in sub-Saharan Africa.

It is with profound sadness that we inform our network and partners about the demise of a former member of the Board of Directors of the Partnership for African Social and Governance Research (PASGR), Professor Benno J. Ndulu who passed away on February 22, 2021. We were privileged to have had Professor Ndulu serve on PASGR’s Board of Directors from October 2010 to October 2014. PASGR benefited from his leadership acumen, depth of knowledge and extensive experience in African higher education, research in areas such as governance, and, expertise in policy processes. His contributions during PASGR’s formative years have shaped the growth of PASGR and its impact on the continent. Through his illustrious career and service to PASGR as well as other organisations he served including the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC), World Bank, and the Central Bank of Tanzania, Benno gave unreservedly and leaves an indelible mark on the continent and beyond. Africa has truly lost one of its leading sons and we convey our condolences to his dear family, friends and colleagues during this difficult time. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
