In a significant stride towards fostering sustainable development in Sub-Sahara Africa, Partnership for African Social and Governance Research (PASGR) in partnership with the German Exchange Programme (DAAD), has announced the call for Master of Research and Public Policy Scholarship Applications for 2024 in the following universities: Egerton University and University of Maseno in Kenya; Mzumbe University in Tanzania; and University of Ibadan and University of Lagos in Nigeria. This initiative aims to empower individuals aspiring to pursue higher education to enable them to contribute effectively to social economic development across the region.
The scholarship programme endeavors to fortify internationally oriented higher education systems in Sub-Saharan Africa. By offering scholarships for development-related studies, it seeks to equip future leaders with the skills and knowledge needed to address critical development challenges. The long-term impacts include qualified professionals contributing to regional development, graduates enhancing education and research, and the strengthening of partner institutions.
Applicants must hold a first academic degree and demonstrate motivation, commitment, and proficiency in the language of instruction. Additionally, candidates should have completed their last degree within the past six years, be nationals or permanent residents of a Sub-Sahara African country, and fall into specific categories such as university staff, teaching/research candidates, or alumni of the DAFI-programme. Female applicants, refugees, and candidates from underprivileged regions are especially encouraged to apply. The scholarships are awarded for the duration of the standard period of study for the chosen programme (up to a maximum of 24 months).
Applicants are required to complete the application process through the DAAD Portal by the closing date of 23rd November 2023.
